Farewell & Thank You!

My mother's always told me, "where there's a will there's a way!" Now more than ever, I believe those words she spoke. I set out to achieve my goal of winning a local pageant title from the Miss America Organization, and last year my dreams came true when I was blessed to win the title of Miss Cambridge 2013!

Life has been completely different since my crowning, but for all the right reasons. I
am proud to say I juggled being a full-time college student in Upstate, NY and handled the job of being a busy titleholder in MA.

I can't believe how much I have accomplished. During my reign I made over 30 appearances in the community, promoted my platform ADOPT: Adoption Depends on Positive Thinking and even placed in the top 11 at Miss Massachusetts 2013. It's truly been a fantastic year. Words cannot sum up how grateful I am to have represented Cambridge.

I definitely would not have been as successful without help and support of my prep team. Thank you so much to the Miss Boston Board StephanieDanaChristine, Andy and Rocky. A special shout out goes to my amazing business manager Dustin. You've been there for me every step of the way!

To Michelle, thanks for being a stellar dance choreographer, friend and mentor.

To my fitness family, JeffJena and little foot. Thank you for your incredible strength training workouts, fitness tips and nutrition guidance. You've certainly taught me that "strong is the new sexy!"

To Miss Boston, Morgan, what a year we have had together. The journey has been so much more amazing with you by my side. You'll always be my sister queen and my "Muscle Morgan!"

Where do I begin? I can't thank you enough Don for all of your love and support. You are by far the best pageant dad in the industry. You've been my personal appearance photographer, cooked me such tasty healthy meals, given me impeccable clothing/wardrobe advice and you are the best motivator. Most of all you've stayed by my side no matter what the circumstances. I love you so much

Tom, thank you for accepting my pageant lifestyle. You have been a wonderful Mr. Cambridge. I know you will treat me like a queen, even without the crown on my head.

There are so many more people I want to thank. To anyone who's ever sent me positive vibes and energy. Please know I am thinking of you.

Lastly, as we begin pageant weekend, I want to wish all the contestants the best of luck. Competing in a pageant is not easy and I commend you. Your hard work and dedication will pay off. I promise. Enjoy every moment of this experience!

Well, I'm graduating in May and my new goal is to work in healthcare communications. I will continue to do public good and serve the people. I am going to apply everything I've learned as Miss Cambridge to aid me in the workplace.

Let's see what the future holds. I'm ready. Thank you all for the most amazing year of adventures. For the last time I am Carrie Sunde, your forever Miss Cambridge 2013!

Pageant Rehearsal & Princess Mentoring

At rehearsal with Miss Boston
Yesterday was very busy! It included pageant rehearsals in the morning and princess mentoring in the afternoon. It was long day, but such a productive and fun experience. It's so different being on the titleholder side of things. Since I'm not competing this years, I feel more relaxed and am enjoying myself through the final days of my reign.

I had the opportunity to watch the contestants talents during rehearsals. The pageant is going to be so entertaining, because there are a variety of talents being performed. I think the audience is in for quite the treat. I also got a sneak peak of talent costumes. Get ready to see lots of color and sparkle.

After rehearsals were finished some of the contestants along with Miss Boston and I met our extremely cute Miss Boston princesses. The young girls will be appearing on stage during the pageant. Miss Boston and I got to present are princesses with crowns and sashes. They will wear those when they make their debut during the pageant. I'm so excited for them.

Crowning a princess
During the princess mentoring session we also made crown shaped princess frames, frosted and decorated cupcakes and signed autographs. It was so much fun and brought out my inner child. I can't wait to see these cute princesses all dressed up for the pageant.

Miss Boston/Miss Cambridge 2014 Pageant Orientation and Workshop

I had a great time today at the Miss Boston/Miss Cambridge 2014 pageant orientation and workshop.
We started off the morning bright and early. The pageant orientation took place from 10am-12pm.

I really enjoyed being able to meet all of the contestants in person. I am thrilled that there is such a diverse group of women competing this year. I am so happy I'm not a judge, because it's going to be really difficult to decide the winners. Each young lady is so accomplished and talented. We will just have to wait until the pageant to learn the outcome. It's going to be a fantastic night of pageantry.

Pictured with Miss Boston, Morgan Berg
During the orientation, Miss Boston and I were able to share our insights/give advice on being titleholders. I teared up while I was recollecting on my year. It's been absolutely wonderful. I am so thankful. My advice to the contestants was pretty simple:

1. Enjoy every moment of this experience. Soak in everything!
2. Do your very best, and not matter what the outcome be happy that you tried.
3. Prove to the judges that you are qualified for the job of being a titleholder. Don't hold back.
4. If you do win, embrace every moment and work your hardest to achieve your goals.
5. Never give up, keep pushing until you get what you want.
Overall, competing in pageants will better prepare you for the real world!
The rest of the orientation was basically paperwork and logistics for the pageant. While the contestants were in orientation, Morgan and learned the opening number routine. Boy is it going to be exhilarating. I don't want to give any secrets away, but it's very different from your typical opening numbers. Be prepare to be wowed. You're in for a treat!

After the orientation was the Miss Boston Workshop. It took place from 1-5pm. I went for a little while and mingled with the young women who attended. It was a lot of fun, because I got to sit back and watch. There's a lot less pressure when you get to watch others prepare for the competition ;-)

Next Saturday will be the final pageant rehearsal. It's going to be super busy, but I'm ready. I just pray it doesn't snow. I remember last year, Boston had one of the biggest snowstorms that broke records and closed down all public transportation. It was crazy. However, in the end everything worked out and I still won the title of Miss Cambridge.

Who will be crowned Miss Cambridge 2014?

Find out Sunday Feb. 16, 2014 at the Omni Parker House Hotel at 5pm. I can't wait to see you there! -Carrie

December- Gillette

I volunteered at Gillette Stadium during a Patriot's game to help raise money for the Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Fund. It was hard work, but worth it. And, the Patriots won!

December-Model for a Day

I had the chance to attend Glitterati Prom & Pageant Superstore's Model for a Day Event, which took place at the Danvers, MA store location. I got to try on different dresses and take photos with Rick Reade Photography. It was a lot of fun. I will never say no to a modeling opportunity. I  love sparkle! Check out some of my looks below!

November- Faneuil Hall Christmas Tree Lighting

Miss Boston, Morgan Berg, and I decided that we wanted to make a fun appearance during the holiday season. So, we searched for possible events to attend and chose the Faneuil Hall Christmas Tree Lighting. We also invited Miss Suffolk County, Victoria DeKoatz, to come along. We had an awesome experience attending the lighting. We took pictures with fans and really enjoyed spending time together!

November- Miss America's Homecoming Brunch

I attended Miss America's Homecoming Brunch in Syracuse, NY. I had the opportunity to welcome home Miss America 2014, Nina Davuluri. She was Miss Syracuse 2013 and went on to win Miss New York 2013. In 2012, Nina and I competed together at the Miss Greater Rochester and Miss Upstate NY pageant. She won the title of Miss Greater Rochester, and I was her 2nd-Runner Up. We have both come a long way in a few short years. I won my first major local title (Miss Cambridge and placed top 11 at Miss Massachusetts) and she went on to win at the national level. Of course, Nina's had more experience than me. She previously competed in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant, where she won Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen and placed 1st Runner-Up at Miss America's Outstanding Teen. I'm proud to call Nina my friend, and I definitely look to her as my inspiration and role model!

November-Miss Taunton 2014 Pageant

I attended Miss Taunton 2014. I got to reunite with the Miss MA Class of 2013 titleholders. It was a very strange feeling sitting in the audience instead of being on the stage. However, I enjoyed seeing so many new girls competing. There was a lot of talent. The Miss Taunton Organization put on a fabulous production. Congratulations to the new Miss Taunton, Brianna Bostick. Good luck as you prepare for Miss Massachusetts 2014!

Take a look at the spectacular wardrobe the models got to wear!

October- Brides Against Breast Cancer

I modeled a wedding dress and also helped young women pick out their wedding dresses at the Brides Against Breast Cancer event in Cambridge, MA. I had so much fun with my sister queen Miss Boston, Morgan Berg. Take a look at some awesome photos from the event!
